CLUB COMPETITION ADVICE
Thanks to everyone who has entered this season’s club competitions. The draws for all the competitions are now available on the competition noticeboard alongside rink one. Please carefully note the following advice:
1 – Games can be arranged as follows;
- Two games maximum on a Friday evening.
- One game maximum on a Monday, Thursday or Friday morning alongside the normal morning roll up sessions.
- One game on a Tuesday or Thursday afternoon when there is always one spare rink available.
- If more than one game can be scheduled, we would also consider opening the club on a Monday or Friday afternoon or even a Saturday morning or spare Sunday morning.
Certainly all games must be played by the specified play by date.
2 – It is normally the responsibility for the person or team on the top of the draw to arrange the details of the game and, although that is still the case, can I please request that everyone is proactive in this respect to arrange the games and get them played on/in time.
Please be advised that if any game is not played by the specified date, the winner will probably be determined by the toss of a coin. Only in very exceptional circumstances will I permit games to be played late.
In light of the above please, please try and arrange your games in plenty of time and do not leave the scheduling until the last few days as certainly rink availability would also become a further complication. Most games are not scheduled to be played until late January apart from the mens’ singles first round games, which needs to be completed by 19th December. However, the sooner games are scheduled and played the smoother the competitions will run and less will be the hassle for me!
3 – Once you have agreed a date and time please draw for a rink number and enter these details in the purple competition diary beside the bar. Please note that if you arrange your game for a Tuesday or Thursday afternoon you will have to play your game on whichever rink is available on that particular date.
4 - If any player has to withdraw or is unable to fulfill any fixture by the scheduled date, including the Finals Weekend, then that player must inform me as soon as possible so that I can then decide on the next course of action.
5 - Hopefully there will not be any disputes but if there are then please refer them to myself.
6 – For those who do eventually make the finals weekend in late March we would like the dress code to be club shirts and whites but we are happy to review this preference nearer the time.
Many thanks
Neil Holman, Competition Secretary
